Church History Program 

Objectives Church History Class

  • To teach the basic overview of church history from Pentecost to our modern times.
  • To give students an understanding of the events that shaped the history of the church and the beginning of the different movements and denominations.  

The Program

The Church History Program is a two-year course with one week of resident work per year. In addition to the one-week modules, students complete various reading assignments and homework. 
 

The Faculty

 
Prof. Dennis SwansonProfessor Dennis Swanson spent nearly 15 years as an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department before entering the ministry, serving in associate and senior pastoral positions in Southern California. In 1992, he joined The Master's College as Director of Academic Assessment and Assistant Professor of Bible. Then in 1994, Mr. Swanson joined The Master's Seminary as Seminary Librarian.  In 2005 he was appointed director of the seminary library.  He also serves as the Director of Israel Studies for the seminary, directing the annual study trips and teaching the related geography and archaeology courses.

Mr. Swanson continues an active ministry, having served as interim pastor and consultant for many churches in Southern California., and currently serves as the interim pastor at Lake Hills Community Church in Castaic, CA. He has also serves as an adjunct professor of Church History at The Master's College. He has also studied at the American Institute of Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem and Moody Bible Institute.

Mr. Swanson and his wife Jeanette have been married for 30 years and have two children.
